Kookaburra Connection
Kookaburras are beautiful Australian birds with an amazing, loud, laughing call at dusk and dawn. To hear one is surely an extraordinary experience. We have many that frequent our garden and every new encounter never ceases to delight. In the hinterlands of Australia they are known as the “bushman’s clock”.
Kookaburra Connection
Along the road in the forest deep,
Where the trees are bare, in snow, they sleep.
A flurry of wings gliding on air,
Cuts through the quiet, and you know they are there.
High on a branch under winter skies,
The Kookaburras connect, it is in their eyes.
Mates for life they will now remain,
Togetherness is theirs to claim.

I thoroughly enjoyed painting my version of these special laughing birds for an exhibition along with other artists in the Blue Mountains.
